I am in the process of making a '93 highlights CD and right now have 43 minutes with the Deer Creek Terrapin and Cal Expo Playin'. What else is worthy of being with the best of the best of '93? Thanks!

check out the pre drums portion of 8-25. I think it's solid. I also bring it up because the Scarlet>Fire is pretty lengthy. I noticed when they got to the fall and winter tours this pairing was very rushed.

For curiosity sake check out space>The last Time from 12-8. The Last Time clocks in at 15 minutes. Some people say jerry was creative and wanted to jam it out, some people say he was lost, MANY people supposedly hear Jerry starting to play St Stephen out of space and Bobby fights him tooth and nail which makes the run time so lengthy. I was there and have listened to it a few times and don't hear it but give it a whirl.

a description off of another site, (i have it and it's all that) >>

Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, CA-- February 23, 1993
This was a great show and further proof that when the Dead open with "Cold Rain and Snow" you can expect a great show to follow. The "Loser" in the midddle of the first set has one of those great Garcia solos that seem like they're going to end, but then wind up for yet another climax before finishing. Jerry also weilds a mighty solo during "Johnny B. Goode" to end the first set. There was little doubt in anyone's mind that Ornette was going to join the band during the second set. It was more of a question of when and what would be played. Jerry had already come out and jammed on Ornette's final number, so we already had a taste of how the two sounded together-- quite wild and crazy. Ornette came out during space, which looped around the walls of the coliseum like a crashing flood, but when the Dead tried to lead Ornette into the "Other One," Ornette would not follow. Over and over again the band stated the melody, but Ornette was off in his own world, and personally, I thought it sounded wonderful! "Stella Blue" was up next-- and Ornette's solo was eerie, yet gorgeous. And his solo on "Lovelight" was a great harmalodic approach to the Mardi Gras sound which fit well in to the Dead's R&B rhythms. All in all-- a great show!
